For this project, I had to choose two designers to imitate and find ways to incorporate their work with each other. I chose April Greiman and Ed Fella. While they both have collaged, seemingly nonsensical styles, their approaches couldn’t be more different.
While Greiman was one of the first designers to use the computer as a design tool, Fella did virtually everything by hand. Greiman’s designs feel completely digital, bright, and have some use of a grid system; Fella’s designs feel hand-rendered, use more earth tones, and lack any type of grid. These two designers lend themselves perfectly for this project, because they are similar enough to combine, but also so different in comparison.
